Meet George Lavín
I was born in Miami and grew up in Coral Gables, where I attended St. Hugh, Christopher Columbus High School, and FIU. After graduate school and years in New York, I came home to South Florida twenty years ago. My husband and I have built our life here.
My parents fled Cuba after opposing dictatorship. They taught my brothers and me to question authority, show compassion, and put principle before party. That’s why I registered as a Democrat at eighteen, and it’s why I’m running today.
As a legal consultant, I bring an analytical mind and a commitment to public service. Tallahassee has gone too long without answering to the people it governs. I’m running to make every resident feel heard and represented—and to hold those in power accountable.
Common-sense priorities for our community
A focused plan built on listening to neighbors across District 36.
Lower Costs
Hold the state accountable for the costs it actually controls — property insurance, your power bill, and the fees passed to working families.
Local Control
Defend local self-government so the communities closest to you keep the power to solve local problems.
Great Schools
Make public education dollars transparent and measured by results families can actually see.
Protect Florida
Fund resilience and reform flood insurance so families facing rising water aren't left to absorb the loss alone.
